haha...was reading pinkshoefetish moments ago.. her last entry.. Her main words? => "Excited because every good relationship will ALWAYS be better than the last. Since i had such a good one with you know who, my next one will be spectacular!"
I smiled on the inside of me as thoughts from that quote came rushing into my head. Im not trying to spoil any feelings of her positive thinking, really.. But seriously, on what basis will the relationships be better than the next? Are those statements based on strong foundations of truth?...or merely words that are trying to psych herself up, expressions of hope? hmm....
At this point, i'm reminded of the lessons i learnt last night during my bible study. FAITH... The bible says in Heb 11:1 that "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen".
Theres alot more that i learnt last night, but i wana go straight to my main point relating to my question of whether pinkshoefetish's statements are merely thoughts to pysch herself up for the future. I'm not saying those statements are wrong, there's absolutely nothing wrong in pysching yourself or having hopes of having a better future. Think everybody have hopes and all. But.. ok, just hear this out, im gona quote directly from my bible study book regarding a point that validates my question.
**Quotation:Faith Produces a firm foundation.
"Substance" in Greek text is the word Hupostasis which means a "suport or latform you stand on." Faith is the basis or foundation for everything we hope for.
Faith is not trying to psyche yourself up to make what you wish for come true. It is not trying to use "mental concentration or mind control". It is not mere positive thinking! without faith, our hoing is mere wishful thinking, doomed to bitter disillusionment. Faith is therefore a most important foundation truth because it is the foundation of our ability to receive things from God(Heb 6:12). Becasue faith is substantial, we can walk, stand and build our lives on it."
Personally, i feel that it is good to invoke positive thoughts after exeriencing failures, disapoointments etc. It expresses a form of hope inspoite of the bad circumstances around you. Im not saying its wrong. Neither am i against it.It's just that what makes you so sure that things will become better simply because you think so. Many a times, when people around me experience failures or disappointments in life, i try to tell them "hey, things will be better!" and most will be like "yeah yeah, i hope so" That is a positive reply, but with no basis whatsoever to really believe and have that " i know that i know that i know things will be better"!kinda strong confidence,assurance in your heart!You know? That UMPH feeling..
Your confidence for a better future will ONLY come as a result of having GOD IN YOUR LIFE! That is my main point. YES,you can have the assurance that your life will change for the better even though things are down in the mud only becuase There IS A GOD THAT IS BIGGER THAN OUR TEMPORARY PROBLEMS!
So today, if God is not in your life, if you have not yet accepted Jesus into your heart, will you allow Him to come into your life and make a permanent change for the better of your future?The bible says in JEr 29:11,"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."
And as for believers, dont conform to your circumstances, the situations of your life! Lift up your circumstances to the level of the word of God!If God has said that a mustard seed of faith will move all mountains, then it shall be so! Let's all learn to carry out faith to the level of His promises! hmm.. yes, I shall do that!Amen.
